Touche Finale African Hair Braiding Introduce
For residents across the Illinois region, particularly those in Chicago seeking highly specialized and intricate protective hairstyles, **Touche Finale African Hair Braiding** stands as a dedicated destination. Situated in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood, this establishment focuses exclusively on being a premier **Hair Salon** that specializes in the full spectrum of African hair braiding techniques and extension services. The name itself, "Touche Finale," implies a commitment to the perfect finishing touch on every style.
The salon proudly identifies as a **Black-owned** and **women-owned** business, which is a significant factor for many local clients looking to support community enterprises in Chicago. This identity often comes with a deep understanding of natural hair care and cultural styling needs. The business has generated a reputation for its speed and proficiency, as evidenced by one client's experience: "Started hair at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon and they were finished by 7:30 so they worked pretty quickly. Overall satisfied with quality and experience. I got a schmedium, butt length knotless beads." This positive review highlights the salon's ability to execute popular, time-intensive styles, like butt-length knotless braids, within a reasonable timeframe, which is a critical consideration for clients with busy schedules.
However, potential Illinois clients should be aware that the customer experience can be highly varied. While one client praised the quick, four-hour service for schmedium knotless braids, another reported a highly negative experience involving a 14-hour appointment, inconsistent braiding techniques (knotless turning into box braids), unauthorized blending of expensive human hair with synthetic hair, a $20 discrepancy in the final charge, and alleged attempts to pressure the client into using an ATM for a cash payment rather than a functional Zelle transfer. Furthermore, a highly distressing part of this account details an unprofessional confrontation with an owner/stylist involving accusations of yelling and a bizarre act of splashing a liquid substance. This extreme contrast in experiences—ranging from smooth, quick service to a prolonged, deeply problematic encounter—underscores the need for clear communication and caution, especially regarding pricing and payment methods, prior to and during any appointment.
Touche Finale African Hair Braiding is conveniently located in the Bronzeville community on Chicago’s South Side, at **428 E 47th St, Chicago, IL 60653, USA**. This area is known for its strong community ties and excellent accessibility.

- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance: Ensures that the salon is physically accessible for clients with mobility needs.

An available **Restroom** is provided for client comfort during the often long styling sessions. It is crucial for clients to note the **Cash-only** payment policy, as this requires planning ahead to ensure a smooth, non-confrontational transaction upon service completion. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1So many things wrong here I don't even know where to start. I came in a week a ago before my vacation I let Mame know that I wanted full waist length bohemian knotless braids she told me for the length it would be $250 plus $20 because I had 2 bundles of bundles of hair. The day of my appointment I tell them that I wanted the bohemian hair added to the ends of the braids as well which was an extra$50 so I knew I couldn't get the full look and Mame also told me it won't be full because of hair added at the ends but I knew this therefore my total should have been $300 we'll get back to this. The first young lady that started braiding my hair didn't know how to add hair to the ends which was discovered during the first two braids so they sent another braider. She was adding the hair at the ends but was trying to blend the synthetic hair with 300 DOLLAR DOUBLE DRAWN BODY WAVE HUMAN HAIR!! I let her know that Is not what I wanted it seemed as if she was correcting and I was checking but obviously she only did what I could see. Is she finishing up with some of the braids in the front? She tells me that Zelle was broken And so I need to go next-door to the ATM to get them some cash. I told her no I wasn’t going to use the ATM. And I was going to use Zelle because how Could Zelle be broken? I didn’t sent a dollar to the Zelle account and it went through turns out They didn’t want the money in their account because they didn’t want the government to know how much they are really making and that’s not my problem Why should I pay extra so thatyou can Scam the government…They requested that I paid Them before she was even finish halfway through my hair, which I don't believe in paying anyone until the job is done .By the time, the young lady makes it to the middle of my head. It is hurting and I'm asking her like why is it hurting because knotless braids don't hurt why is she now giving me box braids But that didn't register with me while I was in the shop because it was so late and I was tired and ready to go. Finally after spending 14 hours in this braid shop she is finished and I get up to discover that I also have Some small box braids at the top of my hair the glue is still white After them dipping it, they have glue mixed in with my human hair and also she continued to blend the synthetic braiding hair into my human hair which defeated the whole purpose and an extra $50 that I paid them to have my human hair at the ends Of my braids. The thing that I noticed as soon as I stood up was the length of my hair one side of my hair is thigh length while the other side is waist length I don't get how that could happen.Another big issue was they ended up charging me $320 do I have wasted $620 on these braids. The next day, I text Mame About all the issues with my braids no response. I went there today because she never responded to my message. And instead of discussing or trying to make things better, she accuses me of yelling and is really gaslighting me like I'm just imagining things i'm trying to show her and she's refusing to look she's telling me that their knotless braids have knots and their definition of full is putting a piece of hair on each braid and I don't even have that!! She even claimed that I didn't text her when I showed her the messages and it says delivered making her out to be a liar in front of everyone She got very angry filled a water kettle with water from the sink and then got some substance that Out of the refrigerator in a water bottle mixed it up and starts splashing it around me and around the store I don't know what this practice is or why they think it's OK to assault someone with voodoo or whatever it is but I don't like that and don't even have the words!!! just stay away from this place They are a scam!!!
June 27 · Ashley WilliamsSmooth first time experience. Started hair at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon and they were finished by 7:30 so they worked pretty quickly. Overall satisfied with quality and experience. I got a schmedium, butt length knotless beads:
October 11 · Taylor BattleI’ve been here 3 times. The previous times were excellent. This time was not my best experience. The braider stopped mid in the middle of doing my braids and took a hour break without a word. Then it took 12 hours. Literally from open to close. Then I was not satisfied with my results. She did boho and when I say she threw them hair pieces in knot around my braids. I don’t think I will be back.
August 09 · A MoneeThey only had one assignment. When i went back to have them fix it the owner stabbed my sore scalp with the crochet needle. She was mad and rude as hell. They had a fit because i was not getting the 200+ hairstyle.
April 21 · Alnisa LewisOne day I was calling braid shops to do my hair for a special event coming up. I called between 4-5 shops. Touché Finale Hair Braiding was the first shop to call back, and the person who answered the phone was very patient compared to other shops that I’ve called. I call to schedule an appointment the next day. They didn’t have any earlier availability, and the earliest I could schedule was 2pm. I call before getting there and arrive around 2. Upon arriving, there were between 8-10 women being serviced, and there was another woman in front of me. Another lady that came in after me got serviced before me, which was what made me a little upset to be waiting there for hours. I didn’t get in the chair until around 4:30pm. When I took my hair out of a ponytail, the ladies in the shop began to laugh and speak in their native language. I thought they would charge me more because of having long thick hair. Fortunately they didn’t. Two women work on my head, and it took a total hour of 5 hours and 19 minutes to complete. I was the last customer to leave the shop. Before leaving, the owner told me how to maintain the hair. When getting knotless boho braids, most braided just take your money and don’t tell you how to maintain them. They did a really good job!
