The flexibility of **accepting walk-ins** and the designation as **"Good for kids"** make it highly convenient for families and those with unpredictable schedules.
However, prospective clients must proceed with caution and preparation. This makes it vital for clients to clearly communicate their desired style, confirm the exact price and length beforehand, and consider requesting a stylist known for their consistent, detailed work if possible. By managing expectations and being prepared for the **cash-only** policy, clients can still benefit from this specialized and locally available service in Chicago.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Do not go here! I paid this lady $250 for Xtra large knotless braids because I need a quick style to go to Six Flags. These braids are terrible! This stylist had no idea what she was doing smh literally a waste of money. These photos are currently day two of having my hair done. Don’t waste your time or money.
August 20 · shantrice wilsonI recently had my hair braided by a stylist named Noubo (or Noube). I paid $250 for waist-length braids, but my hair wasn’t even braided down to my bra strap. I also tipped an additional $20, bringing the total to $270. While most of braids themselves were neat. Some of the spots were she added boho are unraveling. The stylist did not trim the extra boho pieces she left out, which has left my hair looking messy and unkempt. (Pictures inserted below) I am very disappointed with the final result, as it does not match what I paid for or expected. I got out in about 8hrs. Also the clients are so disrespectful there should be a respect code if you can’t respect the Braider then no service. I will try again but a different Braider the next time.
July 24 · Ash LewisVery unprofessional! They told me to come in to get my hair braided twice two different days and I drove 3 hrs once I arrived they turned me around saying no braiders. They are very rude and speak very unpleasant. The environment is small smelly and very uncomfortable, dirty and very hot. There’s no where to sit and should be shut down!
June 07 · Kourtney GI came here and waited patiently to get my hair braided I waited for 5 hours because I wanted someone specifically to do my hair. I paid $340 for butt length they only braided the hair to my waist and dipped the hair. I called and made a complaint the owner told me I can come back Friday morning and I did just that. Now I am sitting here waiting and they are allowing other people to go before me telling me to wait. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
March 07 · Tamira CogdellI want to share my experience at LaRue Hair Braiding to help other customers make an informed decision. I first came to LaRue for a set of blonde boho braids, and the braids were done perfectly. I was impressed and believed this would be a shop I could trust and return to. Based on that, I called LaRue to schedule another appointment for red boho braids. The owner told me I would receive a discount as a returning customer. When I arrived, the owner acted like she never offered a discount. She charged me $250 for the braids, but I also had to purchase hair separately from another braider in the shop, which brought the total cost back up to $290 the same as my first set. The braider assigned to me, an older woman named something like Sally or Sarah, was selected by the owner. I was in the shop from around 4 PM until midnight, and my hair still wasn’t finished. The next day, I noticed large amounts of hair and curls coming out of my head, which never happened with my previous set of boho braids . By Sunday, one of my braids was coming completely undone. I contacted the owner, and she asked me to come back the next day, which I couldn’t do. When I returned the following Friday, she apologized and fixed one braid. However, hair continued to shed in large amounts every day, and I lost so much of the curls that I had to collect them in a bag. I explained to the owner that I’m a single mother who works hard to afford these services, but I did not expect to have my hair literally coming out of my head within a week. I asked for the braider’s name to include in my review, but the owner refused to provide it. The braider claimed the shedding was due to me combing my hair, which is untrue I never combed my braids. Overall, while my first visit was good, my second experience was extremely disappointing. The braiding quality was poor, the promised discount was not honored, and I was left with hair shedding and damaged curls. I do not recommend this shop based on my experience and will not be returning.
