Maysa's Hair Salon Introduce
For residents across the western suburbs of Chicago, including the historic community of Oak Park, finding a local hair salon that offers flexibility is a valued convenience. **Maysa's Hair Salon**, located right on Madison Street, is a neighborhood beauty spot primarily known for its essential hair services and, notably, its policy of **accepting walk-ins**. This feature positions the salon as a go-to choice for those moments when you need a quick refresh or a spur-of-the-moment style change without the commitment of a scheduled appointment.
Maysa's operates as a straightforward hair and beauty salon, aiming to provide fundamental services to the local Illinois community. The environment is focused on the practical application of hair styling, from washes and blow dries to curling and other treatments. While some clients have noted variability in the time taken for services, the core appeal remains the accessibility and the potential for a great final look, especially when you need it fast for an unexpected event.
The salon’s model is built on serving immediate needs. If you are in the Oak Park area and suddenly require professional styling, Maysa's flexibility in taking **walk-in** clients offers a distinct advantage over appointment-only establishments. However, like any busy neighborhood spot, clients should be prepared for potential wait times or price discussions, particularly when requiring immediate, complex services. It is always wise to confirm pricing upfront, as services may be considered "on the pricy side" depending on the complexity and speed required.
In essence, Maysa's Hair Salon provides a local, accessible option for fundamental hair care, catering to those who appreciate the option to stop in without prior planning.
Maysa's Hair Salon is situated at a readily identifiable address: **300 Madison St, Oak Park, IL 60302, USA**. This central location within the Oak Park business district makes it easily reachable for residents of the village and surrounding Illinois suburbs.
The salon is committed to ensuring access for all members of the community by offering a **wheelchair accessible entrance**. This is a crucial amenity that reflects a commitment to inclusivity. While the specific parking situation is not detailed, its location on Madison Street provides typical urban access, often supported by street parking or nearby public transport routes, a common characteristic of commercial areas in Illinois.
One of the salon’s defining features relating to planning is that it **accepts walk-ins**. This eliminates the barrier of needing an appointment weeks in advance, perfect for Chicago-area residents with unpredictable schedules. However, clients should be aware that accepting walk-ins alongside scheduled clients can occasionally lead to longer wait times, as noted in customer feedback. If your time is highly constrained, calling ahead is always advisable, even if they accept walk-ins.
Finally, a critical point regarding accessibility and convenience is the payment policy: Maysa's Hair Salon is strictly **cash-only**. Clients should ensure they have cash on hand before their service to facilitate a smooth and quick transaction.
As a combined Hair Salon and Beauty Salon, Maysa's provides a focused range of services centered on fundamental hair styling and maintenance. While a full, detailed menu of every offering is not publicly listed, the scope of services is generally understood to cover essential daily and special-occasion hair needs. Services commonly provided or noted by clients include:
- **Washing and Conditioning:** Routine hair cleansing and conditioning treatments, although extended conditioning treatments may depend on scheduling and time availability.
- **Blow Dry:** Professional blow-drying services to create volume, smoothness, or prepare the hair for further styling.
- **Curling and Styling:** Finishing services such as curling, essential for creating polished looks for dinner parties, events, or simply everyday wear.
- **Haircuts:** As a full-service hair salon, cutting and trimming services are fundamental to their offering.
The salon caters to various hair types, with customer feedback specifically mentioning positive results on curly hair, where the styling "held my curls up all day." This suggests competency in handling different hair textures prevalent in the diverse Illinois population.
It is recommended that clients inquire about specific services and their associated prices upon arrival, especially for more complex requests or treatments not listed.
Maysa's Hair Salon has several notable features that distinguish it as a local business catering to the practical needs of the Oak Park community:
- **Walk-In Convenience:** The primary highlight is the ability to **accept walk-ins**, providing unmatched flexibility for clients who need spontaneous hair care services without a pre-scheduled appointment.
- **Wheelchair Accessibility:** The presence of a **wheelchair accessible entrance** ensures the salon is open and available to a broader segment of the Oak Park and Illinois community.
- **Essential Amenities:** The availability of a **restroom** contributes to a comfortable experience during potentially longer service times.
- **Effective Styling for Diverse Hair:** Evidence from customer reviews suggests the staff is capable of performing styling that effectively holds volume and curl, particularly on **curly hair types**.
- **Focus on Immediate Results:** The services are well-suited for clients who need a fast, professionally styled look for an event or social occasion, often delivering a "great" result for the intended purpose.
These features underscore Maysa's role as an accessible, local option for daily and impromptu hair styling needs.

- Mobile Phone: +1 708-445-8200

While walk-ins are welcome, calling ahead for an estimated wait time is always a good practice, especially during peak hours.
For Illinois residents, choosing Maysa's Hair Salon is most beneficial when **convenience and spontaneity are your top priorities**. The fact that they consistently **accept walk-ins** sets them apart from the many appointment-only salons in the area. If you find yourself in Oak Park with a last-minute need for a professional wash, blow dry, or curl before an event, Maysa's provides an essential service and a high probability of immediate assistance.
Customers who have had positive experiences highlight the capability of the staff to deliver a final look that is effective for its intended purpose, holding styles well even on challenging hair textures like curls. This ability to deliver a strong, quick result is what makes the salon a valuable local asset.
However, prospective clients must be prepared for the realities of a flexible, walk-in-based system. The trade-off for speed and convenience can sometimes be an extended wait time if the stylist is juggling multiple clients simultaneously. Additionally, the **cash-only** policy requires preparation, and customers should always feel comfortable confirming the final price before the service begins.
Ultimately, if you prioritize accessibility, a functional outcome for an event, and the invaluable option of a spur-of-the-moment appointment in the Oak Park area, Maysa's Hair Salon serves as a reliable option, provided you plan for the payment method and potential variability in service duration.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great quick place in the spur of the moment. I loved my girls. With my hair type whatever they did held my curls up all day. I did go home and flex rod them until it was time for the dinner party. A little on the pricy side. Only because I was in a rush I agreed on the price. I just had a wash, blow dry and curl. I did t even get to sit under the dryer for a condition. But it turned out great for the purpose
July 02 · Sherry Randle-FobbsI went in to Maysa’s to get a wash conditioner a blow out and styled. I walked in at 11:12am didn’t walk out until 3:34 I am currently In front of there establishment making this review because this has by far been the worst experience I have ever had. He took 4 clients in between me because he can’t let anyone walk out the door even at the expense of his current client and not knowing what we have to do. Advertising in the window says get in and out in 45mins that is a joke I was here 4 hours and my hair does not look that good at all I am very disappointed with the services all around.
March 29 · Kiearra ThompsonThis place, definitely gets no stars from me. The only reason why I left a star is so I can leave this review. I walked in here expecting to get a trim, which by the way was gonna cost me $25. I asked him if he could flat iron my hair, mind you my hair is barely up to my shoulders. He said it was gonna cost me $75. So you mean to tell me my trim is $25 and to flat iron my hair is $50?? That’s crazy. No thank you!’
March 03 · Julie KellyI went for a deep conditioning, end clips, and curl. 105.00 a bit steep however I needed it done.stylist very knowledgeable and friendly.
November 28 · Josephine GarrettThe flat ironing done by Mike was dangerous. He passed the irons over the hair like 10 times because it was natural hair and it wouldn’t stay straight. About 2 weeks later the hair started looking frosted or greyish. The strands had been fried. Excessive heat. By a month or 2 later, the hair was broken so badly, a big chop was needed. This client had been growing their natural hair for years. It was past the bra strap. It honestly was too much thick healthy black hair for him to handle all at once. He kept insisting/recommending a relaxer to make the task easier. I kept saying No! After 6 hours he finally finished. The client had to wait while he took other clients in between. He suggested she come back tomorrow for him to finish. I was dissatisfied with that suggestion. I thought Maysa’s was an expert at silk pressing. Good part is*****This place is quick, convenient and an operationally well-ran business model, BUT bad part is it is Not Healthy for the black woman's hair. Which is ironic!… because black women make up the clientele! My advise to Maysa’s: please be retrained on caring for black women’s hair. Forget the ways you thought worked best for black hair ….and re-learn modern and proper ways of caring for black hair (natural and relaxed). Thank you for at least trying.
