The business structure is designed for consistency and convenience, specializing in men’s and boys' haircuts, which means the stylists are experts in this particular segment of grooming.
What sets it apart is the MVP Experience, a highly promoted, comprehensive service that includes a precision cut, massaging shampoo, hot steamed towel, and neck and shoulder treatment. This elevates a routine necessity into a moment of self-care and relaxation.
Furthermore, the salon's commitment to accessibility and its verified status as an LGBTQ+ friendly and Transgender safespace demonstrates a genuine commitment to serving the entire Chicago community with respect and professionalism.
However, prospective clients should note that as with any service business, individual experiences can vary. Some customer feedback indicates that certain stylists may attempt to upsell additional services, such as a hair wash, and that there have been reports of uneven cuts or occasionally aggressive chair-side manner, particularly with one mentioned stylist. This suggests that while the business strives for a high standard, communicating your exact needs clearly to the stylist is crucial, and utilizing the option to check-in for a specific stylist, if available, may help ensure a consistently positive experience. The vast majority of the service model—quick walk-in service, specialized men’s cuts, and the inclusion of premium features like the scalp massage and hot towel—remains a strong draw for the price-conscious and time-sensitive client.
The blend of professional haircutting skill, a fun atmosphere, convenience of walk-in availability, and an array of relaxing add-ons makes Sport Clips Haircuts of South Loop Chicago a compelling choice for anyone in the region looking for a consistently good grooming experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I started going to this location since I moved out here. Always a good experience. I like to find and stick with a stylist who is friendly, and can do my hair well, which is a very simple haircut. During my first few experiences was with Pat. Cut the top way too short when I had specified 3/4 inch off, almost an additional 1/2 inch was cut off. All while leaning her weight extremely hard on my shoulders making me uncomfortable, but fine. Butchered the back hairline, very crooked and I mentioned it. She tried fixing it, but making it worse, and I said to just stop it’s ok, “it looks fine”. Even though still crooked and way higher up along the back of my head. From there on out I kept checking in and specifying different stylists. This past time, I chose a stylist, and Pat pulled the ticket. Clearly knowing not who I chose, the stylist I chose just sat there and said to take it. Not sure why, I tip well, and have a straightforward haircut. I get in the chair and realize I have stiffening product in my hair, and ask if an issue, Pat says yes it is a problem (rightfully so), she says they can wash it (makes sense). But since I live close by I said I can run home and wash it. She began to be condescending, “so you’re going to leave to go wash your hair? Instead of right here?”. I explain it’s an unneeded additional cost when I live close by. She again reiterates the previous statement, and scoffs. All while glancing at the other two stylists in the store, as if I was the problem. Then does a laugh and smirk to the other stylists. Don’t think I ever had a ruder experience at a Sports Clips. I would’ve in fact came back after I washed my hair f it wasn’t for the last action by Pat. Truly terrible.
August 29 · Joey DeAngelisI was a walk-in for a regular haircut, no bells and whistles. My "hairstylist" was Pat. She was condescending, rough, and would not listen to what I wanted. As soon as I sat in her chair, she told me that she would have to wash my hair otherwise she would cut herself during my haircut. I told her that my hair was freshly washed and I had a sensitive scalp so I didn't want it washed. She persisted and essentially told me that I had to get it washed or she could not cut it. This has happened a couple times with different employees there, they try to make you get your hair washed so they can up-charge you. I was put in an uncomfortable situation, so I went with it because I felt as though there would be confrontation if I pushed back more. From there, she just started adding on things, the head massage, cold towel on the face, massage gun on my shoulders, and never once did she ask if I wanted to upgrade to the MVP and get all this done. It would be one thing if I got uncharged for all these services, but I also got a terrible haircut and experience. I tried to explain to her that I get the sides blended into the top. She basically gave me a hard part. She grabbed my head very aggressively and dug her clippers into my scalp. When doing my neckline, I could feel her clippers giving me that razor burn feeling. She also barely but anything off the top and it's uneven. I have small spots everywhere that are longer than the surrounding hair. It was just an overall horrible experience, they are taking advantage of people and overcharging for bas services. I mean $35 for a bad haircut is just ridiculous. Not to mention the location of this Sport Clips is surrounded by college students who can barely afford just a regular haircut, let alone all the extra services that they force on you.
July 08 · Loren FayI just got my haircut and it looks so bad. Pat was my stylist. I've always been a huge fan of Sports Clips but this experience was disheartening. The stylist misunderstood what I said and practically gave me a buzz cut and butchered my hair. Along with that, the fade was very bad and not blended well. For $46, this really sucks, especially since I have a wedding in 2 days.
September 05 · Ryan LeBretSuper friendly staff, great and efficient service which gave me a good, regular haircut. I got the MVP treatment with shampooing and massage, and it was a treat. Just visiting as a tourist from Europe, but I'd go again if i lived in the area.
September 21 · Odd Øyvind AndreassenPat is a rockstar! I walked in after Floyd’s messed up my appointment again, was quickly seated and my specific request for hair style was very accurately nailed. Pat was informative, and always verified I was okay with any bigger snips. And seriously, don’t even get me started on the shampoo + massage. I think the shampoo sink area should be renamed the Garden of Eden, that alone will ensure I return. So again, thank you very much, Pat! Keep at it, you’re unreal!
