Afro Cutz Unisex Salon Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Afro Cutz Unisex Salon serves the Illinois community from its location on Chicago's West Side, operating as a versatile and comprehensive grooming destination. Unlike traditional shops that cater strictly to one gender, Afro Cutz proudly positions itself as both a premier barber shop and a full-service beauty salon. This dual specialization allows them to offer an extensive range of services to men, women, and children alike, making it a convenient one-stop location for families and individuals throughout the Chicago area seeking professional hair care.
The salon is especially recognized for its expertise in various hair textures and styles, which is implied by the name "Afro Cutz." They aim to provide high-quality services, from sharp, modern men's cuts and precision fades to intricate styles and treatments for women. While the goal is to consistently deliver an excellent service experience—such as providing "the freshest lining" for a client's son—it is worth noting that, based on public feedback, potential clients should be aware that the general atmosphere and conversation topics inside the shop may sometimes lean towards a more adult setting. This aspect is one to consider for parents bringing younger children, although the shop is officially noted as being "Good for kids." The commitment to exceptional hair results remains a strong draw for local Illinois users.
Location and Accessibility
Afro Cutz Unisex Salon is conveniently located at 5429 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60644, USA, placing it in the heart of a bustling West Side corridor. This location is easily reachable for customers residing in nearby Chicago neighborhoods and the western suburbs of Illinois.
Accessibility is a key highlight of this establishment. Afro Cutz offers a Wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring that the salon is inclusive and accommodating to all members of the community. This feature is a significant advantage for customers with mobility considerations.
The shop's position on West Madison Street provides excellent connectivity through Chicago's public transit system, the CTA. Madison Street is a major thoroughfare serviced by the highly reliable CTA Bus Route #20 (Madison), which runs directly past the location. Additionally, the area is connected to other major routes and is within a reasonable distance of the CTA Green Line and Pink Line 'L' train stations, such as the one near Ashland-Lake, providing easy travel options from various parts of the city for Illinois commuters.

What is Worth Choosing
Afro Cutz Unisex Salon is a valuable choice for the Illinois community, primarily because of its proven ability to deliver highly skillful, quality hair services—particularly sharp fades and linings—for men and boys, while also offering a full range of beauty salon services for women. This dual capability is a major draw for families who prefer a single, accessible establishment for all their grooming needs. The shop's commitment to accessibility, evidenced by its wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensures it can serve a broad and inclusive local clientele.
However, prospective clients, especially those planning to bring young children, should weigh the consistently praised technical skill of the cuts against the reported feedback regarding the atmosphere. While the barbers' work is excellent and the shop is rated "Good for kids," the occasional presence of non-kid-friendly music or conversation is a factor to consider for the overall experience. On a separate note, it is also important for clients to ensure they understand all pricing and payment procedures to avoid any potential communication issues, as noted in previous customer feedback. Ultimately, for those prioritizing a highly professional, expert cut for diverse hair textures in a physically accessible location, Afro Cutz Unisex Salon on W Madison Street remains a top contender in the West Side Chicago grooming scene.

Afro Cutz Unisex Salon Reviews
I really needed to get my son's haircut because school was starting the next day. I went to a shop a few doors down but they closed at 7:30 although the hours say 9:30. A patron standing outside told me about Afro Cutz. They took my son immediately and this is the freshest lining he has ever had in his life; so fresh I'm seriously considering making this barber his regular barber. My only issue that keeps this from 5 stars is the music and topic of conversation. It wasn't kid friendly AT ALL. We were only there about 20-30 minutes so I feel that's an adequate amount of time to find anything else to play and talk about. The one song that did play that my son likes and doesn't have swearing, they turned from. I'm weighing this vs how great the cut was.
August 22 · Deanna BallardI would not recommend anyone going here because of the bad experience I've had coming here. I don't know the barber name but one time he cut me and my baby brother hair. My mom gave him a tip because it looked really good, but the next time we went there he got mad at me because my mom gave me the money to pay the regular price. He started yelling at me, talking to me like I'm his son, saying, "this isn't the same amount of money you gave me last time. Go back home and get the rest of my money".
October 21 · SleepyGamer YTWent here in a crunch. My son needed his hair cut and I just walked in and he got seated immediately! Tate is such a nice guy he really delivered. My son is very pickey with his hair and he loves it. Definitely going back. 5+ stars
February 25 · Lynette RoseWorth the 45 minute drive every time! Just realized they are open 24 hours now to, super duper convenient. The steam room and after shower was so relaxing. The hot wings and pizza are unbelievable. The mma training for kids while you wiat is also amazing. Don't be fooled by the exterior!
July 07 · AnthonyBeen going here for years. Every Barber has skills in this shop 20+ yrs experience in each chair. Spade just got me right, fade milky and the lining krispy.
